Academy Teacher Profile

My name is Margaret Wanjiru and I am a teacher at Mountain Park Academy. I started teaching Mountain Park in 1998 when we had 19 students. When I joined the school, I was not a trained teacher. We taught with no proper reference books. In 1999-2000 I joined an in-service training college which I attended during school holidays. I upgraded and was able to teach Lower Primary classes as our school advanced from the nursery to primary school.

I got married in 2003 and got my first born in 2004. I have seen great change in my life since I started teaching in Mountain Park. I have become a trained teacher and thus gained confidence in life. I have also developed a job satisfaction in watching the children develop. My first students just graduated to high school. They passed well and the joy was personal to me after seeing the students excell. I am glad to see the way the school has developed and also appreciate the way this experience has opened my eyes to life and opportunities thereof.
